My Story
I met my best friend in high school. We got married, had children, and built a family together. When our marriage ended, I found myself starting over and facing something I honestly never thought I would have to figure out—dating. I had never really dated before.
Friends encouraged me to try online dating, so I did. I spent hours looking through profiles, exchanging messages, getting to know people online, and eventually meeting some of them in person only to realize that there was no real connection. It is really hard to get to know someone and learn about their personality through texts and messages.
But after a while, I started asking myself a simple question:
Why am I spending so much time getting to know someone online before I actually meet them? This made me wonder whether we had the process backwards.
I began to think that maybe the way to do it was to try dating in reverse, where you meet first and then decide if you would like to date next.
I started thinking about how my grandparents' generation met. They didn't have profiles to swipe through or text messages to read. They met the old-fashioned way, in person.
That idea changed the way I thought about dating.
For me, dating is about meeting another person, seeing if your intentions and dating goals align, and discovering whether there is enough of a connection to want to take the next step.
And when you're at a stage in life where your time matters, being intentional about who you spend that time with matters too.
This is what inspired me to create CatchMeOffline.
I wanted to create another way for singles who are open to meeting naturally and in person and build that genuine connection from the start. I believe singles should meet first then decide if they should date next.
